Kesar mango is a famous and premium variety, popularly known as the “Queen of Mangoes.” It is mainly grown in Gujarat, especially in the Gir region. The fruits are medium-sized, round to slightly oval, with smooth yellow to saffron-colored skin when ripe.
The pulp is deep orange, thick, very smooth, and fiberless, with an intensely sweet taste and rich aroma. Kesar mango is highly preferred for fresh consumption, and extensively used in pulp, juices, milkshakes, ice creams, sweets, and processing industries.
The tree is a medium-sized evergreen with good bearing capacity. Fruits generally ripen during April–May and are well known for their excellent keeping quality, attractive color, and export demand.
