PKM-1 is an improved sapota variety released from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Periyakulam. It is known for its high yield and uniform fruit quality. The fruits are medium to large, oval to round, with smooth brown skin.

The pulp is light brown, very sweet, soft, and less gritty, with a pleasant flavor. This variety is excellent for fresh consumption and suitable for commercial cultivation due to its attractive fruits and good keeping quality.

The tree is a medium-sized evergreen with regular bearing habit and good adaptability to tropical climates. PKM-1 sapota is valued for its early bearing, high productivity, and strong market demand.
