Coconut (Tall) is a traditional and widely cultivated coconut variety in India. It is known for its long life span, strong trunk, and high adaptability to different climatic and soil conditions. This variety is mainly grown for copra, coconut oil, and household use.Tall coconut palms grow up to 20–30 meters in height with a single, unbranched trunk and a crown of long, pinnate leaves. Flowering and fruiting usually begin after 6–7 years. The nuts are medium to large in size, with a thick kernel suitable for oil extraction. Each palm can produce 70–100 coconuts per year under good management.This variety has deep roots, making it tolerant to drought and strong winds. Due to its longevity (can live 60–80 years), it is preferred for long-term plantations.
