Malkova (also known as Malgoa) mango is a well-known traditional variety cultivated in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The fruits are large, round to oval, with thick greenish-yellow skin when ripe.
The pulp is yellow to deep yellow, firm, moderately juicy, and slightly fibrous, with a sweet taste and pleasant aroma. This variety is commonly used for fresh consumption, slicing, juices, and processing, and is especially preferred for its large fruit size.
The tree is a large, vigorous evergreen with a spreading canopy and good yield potential. Malkova mangoes generally ripen during May–June and are valued for their good keeping quality and suitability for local markets.
